As expected, the New Year's Eve Classic Cars and Coffee was a huge event. I chose to ride my 1954 DKW motorcycle so I could avoid the long queues of cars trying to get in. As I rode along Stirling Highway towards UWA there was a stream of classic cars driving on towards Fremantle - obviously having seen the queues and decided to give it a miss.

I have recently been clearing out the home of my aunty, who has been forced into a care home. It's a very sad business. As I've been going through her papers (she was a hoarder) I occasionally come across interesting old papers. Here's a 1968 Scott Bonnar reel mower owner's instructions. I can remember these old machines and I used one many years ago when I worked part-time as a lawnmowing Paul Markhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443898792293766779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202728075244387954.post-86457515607618823812023-10-18T14:08:00.003+08:002023-10-18T14:08:38.187+08:00Classic Cars and Coffee Sunday 22nd October 2023
Dear car and bike enthusiasts
Welcome to our update on all things Classic Cars and Coffee. Well Spring has definitely sprung and the weather has turned a lot warmer, it bodes well for a fantastic Spring/Summer season for Classic Cars and Coffee and our spin off events. This Sunday is a very special one with the postponed October CC and C taking place, along with our great drive and lunch event Paul Markhamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16443898792293766779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202728075244387954.post-50196299128353974682023-10-14T17:16:00.003+08:002023-10-15T13:18:00.536+08:00Motorcycle Display in Chania, Crete
Chania is a city on the north-west coast of Crete. The old town is centred on the Venetian harbour, a lovely old-town with architecture dating back to the 14th century.

As we explored the old town we came across a notice that there was a classic bicycle and motorcycle display. We were lucky enough to be there on the last day of the display.

It would be fair to say that the government is increasingly not our friend. In coming years we can expect to see more and more "environmental regulation" enacted with the intention of restricting the use of petrol powered motor vehicles on our roads. In this 'debate' science matters not a whit - only money talks, and those that are pushing for restrictions have deep pockets.

Dear car and bike enthusiasts...aka tragics! The team at CC and C are very much looking forward to this Sunday's event with a great array of new classics and rare modern cars expected. The weather is looking on point so we expect it to be a big morning. Remember that this Sunday we will be operating our winter hours of 9 - 11am, next month we will go back to our regular 8:30 - 10:30am times. Despite Germany having a reputation for engineering excellence, prewar automobile production was slow and expensive. Mass production techniques were virtually unused until they were introduced by American affiliates GM Opel and German Ford in the mid-1930s. The German Progresswerk of Oberkirche manufactured a variety of motorscooters from 1950 to 1960. Powered by Fichel and Sachs motors, their scooters were manufactured in small numbers. Information about these scooters is difficult find however, even in German. Below is an English language owners manual and a spare parts list.
