Shannons Classic Car Show 24th March 2019

Once again I am organizing the Shannon's Classic Car Show.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Classic Car Show, Perth’s premier classic motoring event. The show was first held in 1969 at the Kings Park Children's Playground and brought together five British car clubs, the Jaguar Club, MG TC Club, MG Register, Riley Club and the Rolls-Royce Club. The show was a success and the clubs arranged to make this an annual event. Year on year the event grew as more clubs began participating and by 1973 the show had reached a point where an inter-club organizing committee was required. This was the foundation of today's Council of Motoring Clubs, which continues to represent the interests of the classic motoring community in Western Australia.

This year we have almost thousand vehicles on display in the pleasant grounds of Ascot racecourse, representing 66 motoring clubs. We will have vintage trucks and commercials, buses, cars from all marques and eras, motorcycles, scooters and microcars. There will also be displays by special interest clubs, such as the vintage radio society; activities for children. Food and refreshments are available, and Kalamunda Community Radio will be playing classic tunes and broadcasting live from the show. It’s a great day out for the whole family. Admission is $10 for adults with accompanying children under 16 free. Free parking onsite. ‪Sunday 24 March 2019. Gates open ‪10am and close ‪at 3pm.‬‬‬

Bay to Birdwood 30 September 2018

I was invited to the AGM of the Australian Historic Motoring Federation (AHMF) in Adelaide at the end of September. By good fortune the date coincided with the Bay to Birdwood so I went along and enjoyed the show. Last year's run, when we attended with the Special Interest Vehicle Association, was for cars from 1954 onwards. It was a good experience but there were too many 'modern' classics for my liking. This year's show was cars up to 1959, which I found more appealing.

Exhibitors begin setting up in the upper lawn.

I have way more photos to post but I've been running way behind schedule on the blog this year. I've got a dozen other car shows to post! I'll come back to this post and add more photos when I get time.
