Well, 2020 proved to be a bit of a mess with the worldwide Covid hysteria causing everyone to lose their collective minds. At the beginning of the 'crisis', when the message was 'flatten the curve' there was some logic in shutting things down, but that message quickly went by the wayside and the madness of continual lockdowns were enforced despite there being ample evidence that lockdowns were completely pointless. This whole affair has poisoned political and social relations as piss weak politicians and egomaniac bureaucrats have exploited the crisis to impose far reaching and dangerous to democracy controls over society, all the while being cheered on by members of the public who have swallowed the media/political claims without question. All I can say is - look at the actual published numbers and use a calculator and you will understand just how serious the crisis really was.
Unfortunately, 'the science' also demonstrates the same level of confusion and polarization, with studies demonstrating the virus is not particularly dangerous, while others suggest it is extremely dangerous. However, reading through these studies (man, there are a lot....) I'm satisfied that the virus is no more dangerous than the flu or common cold IF you are generally healthy and do not suffer from an existing set of comorbidities (ie, heart disease, serious asthma, kidney disease, auto-immune diseases, diabetes). If you don't fall into those categories, you're risk of serious illness is low. Against this, the demonstrable negative effects on health of the lockdown and social isolation are VERY well documented.
No health crisis such as this can be treated as a binary equation, but needs to weigh many different outcomes and risks. You cannot solve Covid by locking a society down without weighing the damage done to mental health and other health outcomes (delayed treatment for chronic illnesses/cancer/etc), and the effects of social isolation on the elderly. As a responsible society, we cannot let politicians and bureaucrats dictate socially destructive rules without a reasoned debate that weighs the pros and cons of all available evidence. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-79850-6

IMPORTANT UPDATES - Corona Virus shut downs
The Australian Government announced on 13 March 2020 that, in order to stop the spread of the corona virus, public events attracting over 500 people, would be banned from Monday 16th March 2020. For many event organizers, this has resulted in the voluntary postponement of events. Consequently, all events after this date should be regarded as cancelled or postponed until further notice. If in doubt, please check with the organizers.

As you’d be very aware, the Coronavirus is wreaking havoc on events (and everything else) around the world. The French Car Festival was scheduled for April 5th, which is clearly unworkable now.
The intention is not to cancel the event, but to postpone it – with the last Sunday in September being the date we’re aiming for. I’m in negotiations with Leederville Connect and the relevant authorities with a view to running French Car Festival 2020 on that date.https://www.facebook.com/events/754539778369390/

After discussion with The Shire of Waroona and our major sponsor ALCOA, we are heeding advice from the Federal Government and Health Department with their recommendation to cancel events that attract visitors over 500 people.

Sunday 13th December 2020 - Gone but not Forgotten
Shannons is proud to present a very special car show dedicated to the history of Holden, to be held in WA on 13 December 2020. With this year marking the cessation of the iconic Aussie car brand, it’s an appropriate time to celebrate every model that made Holden Australia’s favourite car for a generation.
The venue is the former site of City Motors Holden, 505 Newcastle Street, West Perth, where we are attempting to curate a display featuring one of every Holden model built in Australia. Not only that, Western Australian enthusiasts can participate for free, with a parking area set aside for anything that fits the bill. Holden Specials, Kingswoods, Commodores, Statesmans, Toranas, Geminis and even Camiras; if it was built by Holden, then its welcome.
CARS WANTED FOR DISPLAY: If you have a Holden with a great backstory, or perhaps one in showroom condition, then we want to hear from you. That includes pre '48 Holden bodies. If you have a car that fits the bill, or would like to be a part of this once in a lifetime show, then please call James McDonald on 0409 376 000 or email gonebutnotforgotten@suncorpgroup.onmicrosoft.com.au
