Celebration of the Motorcar 2014
Perth's prestige and exotic car event, Celebration of the Motorcar, was held on Sunday 16th of November 2014 in the beautiful grounds of the Cottesloe Civic Centre. The weather couldn't have been more perfect - 29c, clear blue skies and a gentle, cooling breeze blowing in from the Indian Ocean. Perfect car show weather!
I volunteered again as a marshal and helped out with the Rolls-Royce exhibit. I was able to get some good photos and speak with the owners before the crowds arrived.
Rolls-Royce Phantom
1935 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith 'Cleopatra.' This was one of Percy Markham's cars.
1933 MG K3 factory racer. Peter Briggs was also selling a book about MG and the car's racing history.
1935 Riley Sprite TT. This car finished fourth in the 1935 Le Mans 24 hour race.
THE original Le Mans 1924 Bentley
A replica of the original Jaguar SS prototype. It was built using many original parts to the original plans.
Jaguar XK140
The Mercedes section
Mercedes-Benz 280SL
1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL - I think this was probably the nicest car in the show
1967 Maserati Quattroporte. A display celebrated the centenary of Maserati.
Lotus Elite
Bentley
Aston-Martin DB6
Aston-Martin DB4
Two Porsche 356s
Porsche row
1963 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible, once owned by the Emir of Kuwait
1939 Cadillac V16 2-Passenger Coupe - one of only six manufactured
Shelly and Robert Wagner's 1958 Corvette
The orange car is number 50 of only 50 McLaren MP-12C's
The only McLaren 650S Spider in Australia
The Ferrari collection
The only Bristol 603 in Australia
One of only 15 Giocattolo supercars. These were Australian made customised Alfa-Romeo's with a mid-mounted Holden V8 engine. There were two on display.
Audi Quattro. Audi took a modified DKW Munga four-wheel drive chassis and installed a new, supercharged engine and bodywork and dominated the rally scene for years.
1972 SAAB 96. This is a four stroke V4 engined example.
My Tatra was in good company.
A happy Tatra owner.
Display at the entrance.

Brockwell Run 9 November 2013
After so many recent washouts the Brockwell Run was blessed with beautiful sunshine.
The new location at Fremantle Park was a great choice with much better access. Over a hundred cars attended the start.
1966 Renault Alpine
1954 Swallow Doretti. This is a really unusual car in Australia. Swallow Coachbuilding Company built sidecars in the 1920s and 30s before moving into sportscars in the years before the Second World War. Their most famous product was the SS Jaguar. After the war the SS association with Nazism led them to switch the model name with the company name resulting in the Jaguar SS. Swallow Sidecars however continued as a separate company and between 1954 and 1955 released this tidy little sportster. http://www.doretti.com/
I took the Karmann Ghia along
Stunning little Porsche 356 sportster
Probably the nicest Jaguar XK120
Jaguar E-Type, Triumph Spitfire and Morris Minor
Alvis
1925 Vauxhall LM14/40
Rolls-Royce
Cadillac
Of all the cars at the show I think this is my favourite.
Citroen DS
1936 Fargo and Bedford trucks
Chevrolet Impalas
Six Cadillacs
Line up from the bus museum
The SIVA club cars.
The run starts....
A very nice XK140
Citroen Traction Avant - still one of my favourte cars
A real rarity - an AC 2 Litre saloon. The only one in Perth. http://www.ac2litre.com/
Trucks away!
Aron's Honda S600 premiered at the show. Good work!
