National Auto Collection: The Schlumpf Collection - Racing cars

1923 Bugatti Type 32 "tank" Bugatti fielded three fully streamlined racers for the 1923 Tours Grand Prix. Their extraordinary, streamlined bodywork created a visual sensation, but the cars did not perform particularly well as the design wasn't fully tested. They were plagued by breakdowns during the race and Bugatt abandoned the concept.

The Citroen and Renault

1951 Hotchkiss-Gregorie budget car prototype. This little aluminum bodied car evolved into the Panhard Dyna X.

The gorgeously eccentric Panhard Dyna Z, manufactured from 1953 to 1959. Powered by a 851cc opposed twin cylinder engine, they enjoyed surprising rally success in Europe.

1953 Panhard Dyna X. The predecessor to the Dyna Z was built between 1948 and 1953. These little lightweight cars were powered by a 600cc two-cylinder boxer engine.

Peugeot Berline 203, manufactured from 1948 to 1952

Renault Dauphine Aerostable, manufactured from 1956 to 1967.

The Hotchkiss Gregoire luxury saloon. Only 240 of these custom built cars were built between 1950 and 1953.

Another experimental vehicle from the Panhard stable. The coachbuilt Dynavia of 1948. Underneath the streamlined bodywork the car was basically a Dyna X.
