French Car Day, Perth 2015
Last year's French Car Day was a washout thanks to an unseasonable thunderstorm. This year's event was something completely different. The organisers replaced what was a relatively small car show with a full-on festival of French-ness. I think it's fair to say that the Bonjour Perth festival was a success and will be back again next year. And the car show was pretty good too!
There was a good selection of Citroen DS' to celebrate the car's 60th anniversary.
A Citroen DS Safari wagon.
The magnificent Citroen Traction Avant. A real beauty!
The iconic Citroen 2CV. This little car was designed in the 1930s but due to the war was not put into production until 1948 and remained in production, almost unchanged until 1990.
Citroen SM Maserati. Citroen's successor to the DS.
The magnificent and exotic Panhard PL17. This is a new import to Perth.
A peek under the Panhard's bonnet shows the front mounted 850cc twin cylinder boxer engine. Although it was a rather small engine, the car was very light and performed well in rallying.
Peugeot 403
Simca 1000 and Simca Aronde
The Simca 1000 was rear engined and somewhat similar to a Renault 8 in concept.
Simca had been taken over by Chrysler and the Simca Aronde betrays its American origins.
Another great display of Renault 4CV 750s

This car has a long racing history and still has its original bodywork.
